Scenario¶
One of four races in the 'One Ranked Electorate, Many Tabulations' election (BV2138, bvid cxrf8v; BV-confirmed). 921 voters, five candidates, NO Condorcet winner (Smith set = Abby, Brad, Dave, Erin). Robert LeGrand's flagship 'the method decides' example: across ~15 methods the win splits five ways. Ranks mapped to 0–5 scores. Abby tops the score round (2836) but Brad wins the automatic runoff head-to-head (463–458) → STAR → Brad (agreeing with BV's Ranked Robin, not LH's).
Ballots¶
Row 1 = candidate names; each later row is one voter's 0–5 scores (a N × prefix = N identical ballots).

What the engine says¶
The count, step by step — the rounds and how the winner is reached:
[Divergence from STAR]
STAR = Brad
RCV-IRV = Dave (differs from STAR)
Approval = Erin (differs from STAR)
RCV-RR = Abby (differs from STAR)
Note: no ballots had tied scores, so RCV-IRV vs STAR here is a genuine
method difference, not a tie-breaking artifact.

[Runoff Reversal]
- Score Round Winner(s) = (Abby)
- Runoff Round Winner = (Brad)
Candidate Abby earned the highest total score, but
Candidate Brad won the automatic runoff — not a malfunction,
STAR working as designed: the runoff elects the finalist preferred
by the majority (of voters with a preference).
